Shamanism in Practice: Ethical, Effective, and Inspired Shamanic Healing™ Workshop

An effective shamanic healing practice depends on a combination of factors, including authentic training, direct client experience, and spirit connections. Developed by Susan Mokelke, this extended workshop combines lectures, small group discussions, interactive exercises, role playing, and journeying to help you create a practice that inspires and supports you and your clients. Learn to navigate ethical issues, screen clients, design your healing space, and practice with integrity.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN / COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

In this 2-day workshop, you will learn and practice:

Ethical Decision-Making & Client Screening

Address core ethical issues such as permission, describing shamanic healing clearly, screening potential clients, and practicing with integrity and respect.

Creating a Safe Healing Container

Design a safe, clear, and flexible container for your practice, understanding proper preparation before sessions and integration after client appointments.

Pragmatic Aspects of Professional Practice

Explore practical business elements including fee structures, designing your sacred healing space, and legal considerations for spiritual healing practitioners.

Role-Playing, Exercises & Peer Discussions

Engage in small group discussions, interactive exercises, role playing, and shamanic journeying to deepen your practice alongside fellow shamanic practitioners.

WHAT TO BRING / PREPARATION GUIDE

Please bring the following items to the workshop:

Rattle and/or Drum
A rattle and/or frame drum for journeying practice and interactive exercises.
Eye Covering
Blindfold, eye covering, bandana, or Mindfold® to block light and help you focus.
Notebook & Pen
Notebook and pen for note-taking, exercise reflections, and recording journey details.
Comfortable Clothing & Socks
Wear comfortable clothing suitable for floor work and warm socks for indoor practice.
Blanket & Cushion
Blanket and/or cushion (optional) for maximum comfort during lying-down floor journeys.
Packed Lunch
Packed lunch (optional) or visit nearby local dining during the 1.5-hour lunch break.
ACCREDITATION & POLICIES / IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Prerequisites, CE Credits & Workshop Scope

🎓 Accreditation & Prerequisites:
  • Prerequisite Options: Completion of The Way of the Shaman® Basic Workshop (In-Person) OR the three FSS online workshops (The Shamanic Journey™, Shamanic Divination in Practice™, and Shamanism, Spirits, and Healing™) is required before attending.
  • Recommended Background: Prior training in specific shamanic healing methods (e.g., Psychopomp, Extraction, Soul Retrieval) is strongly recommended to get the most out of this practice-focused workshop.
  • Full Attendance Required: You must complete all sessions of this 2-day workshop to receive the FSS Certificate of Completion and CE credits.
  • 13 FSS CE Credits: 13 Continuing Education Credits are awarded by the Foundation for Shamanic Studies upon full completion.
  • Gold Certificate Pathway: Successful completion of this workshop fulfills one of the required prerequisites for the FSS Gold Certificate of Completion.
  • Recording Policy: Electronic recording (audio, video, photography) and the use of computers, tablets, or cellphones are strictly prohibited during sessions.

  • This workshop focuses on practice ethics, container building, and practical execution frameworks. This course does NOT teach specific shamanic healing techniques (such as Extraction or Soul Retrieval) nor marketing strategies and promotional tactics.
  • Legal considerations discussed in class are for practical framework understanding only; this course does not offer formal legal advice.
